Age: 21
Current Characters: Steven Stone ([personal profile] geophile )

⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Penny Polendina
Age: Likely less than a year old, but has the mental capacity of a teenager (15-17)
Canon: RWBY
Canon Point: Volume 3, Chapter 9: Right before her Vytal Festival fight against Pyrrha.

Background: nyoom

Personality:

Penny Polendina is a weirdo.

Really, even as as far as inorganic beings go, she can be quite the oddball. Though she doesn't seem to be aware of it, both her mannerisms and speech are awkward and ignorant to social norms. As viewers, we aren't given a reason as to why Penny is like this until it's revealed that she isn't actually human at all, but rather a robot made as a combat weapon capable of harnessing her own Aura.  However, she hardly acts like one outside of battle; Penny has an infectiously cheerful, good-hearted personality that is entirely her own.

Though she is somewhat naive and possesses an incredible lack of social awareness, Penny is by no means airheaded or aloof. In fact, she's quite the opposite; this is in part what makes her so realistic. She is endlessly curious about the world around her and the living creatures that inhabit it, which prompts some concern from her "father" that she could get hurt. However, she is very much able to defend herself - as she likes to state, she is always, figuratively and literally, "combat ready". Even if she cannot read the room, she is programmed to read a battlefield and confidently uses her strengths and skills to her advantage. She is also very observant towards other people - this seen most notably when Penny was able to see that Blake was a Faunus almost immediately after meeting her, while she was able to hide this fact for several months from her own teammates.

As Ruby so aptly remarks, Penny being "made of nuts and bolts" does not make her any less real than a human. However, she harbors some insecurities about not being a "real girl". As she explores the world, Penny wants nothing more than to fit in and make friends, which is why she so eagerly clings to Ruby despite her only casually calling her a friend in a passing greeting. This desire to fit in puts her at odds with her own honest nature - she believes that others will judge her if they find out that she an android, and feels like she needs to hide the fact as a result. Unfortunately, Penny is a very, very bad liar.

However, what Penny lacks in self-confidence, she makes up in determination. She is dedicated to those that she considers her friends, and is willing to leap into the throes of danger if it means protecting them. In doing so, she wants to continue to experience new things, foster bonds of friendship, and find her accepted place in the world. She never does get to experience this in canon, but her last words speak volumes about her character - "this is going to be so much fun".

Abilities:
As a robot, Penny has a few cool abilities in her arsenal:
  • Super strength
  • Increased dexterity and agility
  • An array of gun-blade weapons that she summons from a mechanical pack on her back
  • Inorganic body (Penny cannot get sick or physically age)

Alignment: Daimonia (grief and joy). Though Penny experiences lament over not being a "real girl", she keeps an fairly consistent upbeat attitude and takes personal joy in interacting with others and enjoying life.

Other: nothing!

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

General Sample: @ the tdm!

Emotion Sample: "There are beings here... like me?"

Upon seeing a clearly mechanical being walking around Verens without even attempting to blend in with living, breathing people, Penny found herself stunned. Never before had she seen mechanical beings that were clearly not weapons walking around in broad daylight - not even back in Atlas. The robots here seemed to be going about everyday lives, without being stared at, or judged, or... feared.

As the realization begins to dawn on her, the emotions that follow suit begin to manifest slowly, and then all at once. Her smile happiness brings beams of sunshine down, and as she watches the android man walk by, she decides that she can't let the opportunity pass. She breaks into a run to wave him down, with bright daisies springing up from her path with every step. Today, she might be able to make a new friend.

The thought excites her.
