[ Penny is so... excited, and ignorant. It leaves a lump in Pyrrha's throat, one she can't quite swallow around.
For all that she knows that what happened in the arena that day isn't completely her fault, the fact remains -- it was her semblance that killed Penny, her reflexive fear, her inability to break through the illusion. The manipulation was a means to an end, and is irrelevant besides. Pyrrha doesn't get caught up in measuring increments of blame, just as she doesn't get caught up in whether or not a robot with an aura was the same as a person. These things just are.
This is the girl she murdered.
And this house... this house is just going to be another person's tomb, isn't it? The resilient spirit that typically characterises Pyrrha is a bit colourless now, and a cold wind whips about her upper arms.
In the backyard, Pyrrha waits, and waits, and tries not to run. ]
[ in a contrast to pyrrha's cold, unforgiving breeze, penny's presence brings one of warmth and anticipation. she's been wanting to speak with pyrrha for weeks now, hoping that they could get to know each other more and become friends. for whatever reason, ruby and the others didn't seem to be very comfortable with talking about her to penny - or the vytal festival at all, for that manner. she's made sense of it because of her understanding of the outcome - it had been a tragedy, but all of them had come out of it alive.
or so she thinks.
when she spots pyrrha, penny offers her a friendly wave as she jogs up to her. ]
It's great to see you again, Pyrrha! I've been wanting to talk to you for some time.
I'm enjoying it very much. I've met some very nice people so far, and they all come from completely different worlds! It's amazing, isn't it?
[ what's even more amazing is that she has more in common with some of them than she could have ever imagined. though she loves remnant dearly, there are other here that weren't born, but made - just like her. ]
[ Pyrrha sits down. Conveniently, there is patio furniture all over the backyard. Weiss did a good job with ensuring every room of the house was livable, even on the outside. ]
In fact, there are many amazing things about this world. Things that defy laws we may believe we're familiar with.
[ Although the cold air is relatively isolated to Pyrrha, her sphere, her bubble, it grows.
The sky above them seems to darken slightly, as the sun disappears behind a cloud. ]
[ well then, she's going to take a seat right across from her! the furniture is here to be used, after all... she just hopes that the weather holds out with how the clouds seem to be rolling in. ]
I can't wait to discover all of them for myself. I haven't had a single uninteresting day here yet!
[ almost immediately, penny's smile drops into a confused frown. why would pyrrha say something like that to her? penny isn't the best at jokes, but if that's what pyrrha trying to do, even she knows that this isn't very funny. ]
That's not true. Ruby told me that we were interrupted by the attack, and that the match was called as a tie.
[ no. she's spoken to everyone here from remnant - if something like that happened, someone would have told her. ruby would have told her. she isn't going to believe that she was killed without some sort of proof.
[ For a moment, Pyrrha is tempted to leave it there. She had tried to be honest; Penny had chosen not to believe her words. No one could say she hadn't tried, right? ... She might be content with that, pretend it isn't leaving an important truth undiscussed, except Penny deserves better. As does Ruby, Nora, Jaune...
Secrets back home had been damning, and had eventually killed her, and Penny, and Amber.
So, she has to be strong. She has to see this through to the end. It isn't as if she's not sorry, or has no regrets.
Pyrrha gives Penny a clear, open, apologetic look. ]
I can show you, if that would help. However, I think... you would find it disturbing.
[ it's said immediately and without hesitation. she isn't sure if she can trust pyrrha, but an image is better than word that contradicts what penny believes to be true. she isn't angry at pyrrha, but if she isn't being truthful, she wants to know why. if she is... well, she hasn't prepared for that just yet. ]
Pyrrha will just show Penny the relevant parts of this, then - only it's projected from Pyrrha's eyes, with the misleading illusions in tact in her memory. Every moment is clear and transparent, the emotions vivid, the fear pieced back together. Feeling her weapons get knocked out of her hands, the way her terror had pushed her heart to a merciless stammer... Penny will see all of that, up until the end. Up until metal limbs fold, a torso tearing in half. Legs strewn across the floor, impossibly opposite from Penny's head.
Blank eyes, fading. The end of a smile.
By the time the memory is done playing across their brief telepathic link, now severed, Pyrrha looks a bit paler.
[ she watches the fight attentively - she remembers the arena and the roar of the crowd, but nothing of the match itself. she feels a mounting anxiety as it goes on, which culminates when she's shown what pyrrha had seen. thousands of her swords... but that was impossible. she knows she only has the capacity for eight at the very most.
but the memory continues on. she gasps and her eyes go wide upon hearing the disturbing crunch of her limbs being crushed, like a human would react to the sound of a neck being snapped. with all of that, how can she deny it now? penny understands now - she's been living here for a month, blissfully unaware that this will be her fate.
she looks horrified, slowly and wordlessly stepping away from pyrrha. ]
[ when penny had asked to see the memory, it was under the assumption that she would have been able to handle what she saw. her assumption was wrong.
she wants to speak to pyrrha, to understand that it wasn't her fault... but when the words try to leave her, nothing comes out. the shock feels like it's paralyzed her to her core, and she doesn't know how to handle it.

[ Of the RWYJNPP House, Pyrrha means.
She'll gather up her stuff regardless and start heading out toward. ]
