[ Penny and Jaune might have casually run into each other inside the Beacon house in the past, but today Penny will find a strange sight.
It's Jaune, camping out in the front lawn of their shared house. It's daylight, too, and he seems to have been out here for at least two days, with no signs of packing up. In fact, it appears that he's going to have lunch, but when he reaches for two-minute noodles from his plastic hobo bag, he realizes that he doesn't even have a mivrowave at the moment. ]
Aw, nuts! I guess I'll wait for her to leave the house again...
[ it certainly is strange! at first penny had just taken it as jaune wanting to get some fresh air, but two days does seem to be a bit excessive. on top of that, everyone else in the house seems to be acting pretty strangely, too...
so of course, she's ready to investigate! in true penny fashion, she pops up behind him with no warning whatsoever. ]
[ It's a nice summer (almost fall!) day outside. The sun is brightly shining, and there are so many kids playing out in the streets because they aren't attending summer school.
In fact... there are way too many kids. And a guy is out to deliver sacks of potatoes in a wagon when he abruptly stops his horse from moving some more since some kids just zoomed right in front of his path! Some of the sacks fall to the ground, while one somehow manages to fly up in the air and it's— it's heading straight for someone!
Tadashi was in the middle of reading a book when he hears the horse cry in pain from how much the owner pulls on its bit. Then he sees the sack in the air and he all he can do is get to his feet and yell: ]

[ Baymax, who is conveniently right beside him in its charging station, still remains to be seen. ]
[ it's a wonderful day to go out for a stroll and watch the city, which is just what penny is doing. she wasn't expecting danger to arise from kids playing in a street, but the commotion that the potato wagon makes catches her attention.
the sack is definitely a danger to those below if it hits someone, so penny springs into action. as it quickly falls, she catches it it cleanly... which might seem incredible to some people watching. between the heaviness of the sack in general and the momentum at which it fell, she should have at least stumbled or felt some sort of pain. no such thing happens.
after quickly asking the nearby kids if they're okay, she puts down the sack and quickly begins to leave the area. ]
[ It is incredible??? And Penny should be seriously hurt, which is why Tadashi activates Baymax immediately and runs towards Penny. Why is she even leaving the scene? ]
Hey! [ Tadashi was just a spectator, but he can't help but feel concern. ] Hey, miss!
[ yes! it's a little odd that someone with thought processors instead of "thoughts" in the traditional sense can use telepathy, but she can hear pyrrha loud and clear. in fact, she's very excited! ]
Pyrrha Nikos! It's been some time, hasn't it?
[ she's been waiting for this! ever since ruby told her that pyrrha was here, she's been itching to ask her things and get to know her. ]

[ To a pretty perfect homecoming, honestly. It feels selfish to say that, since she made a beeline for Jaune and basically ignored everyone else, but ... that's all she needed at the moment.
Now, it's time to be a grown-up. So, this. ]

[ A "sorry for murdering you" present? Apparently. ]
[ Penny hadn't been home ever since her chat with Pyrrha and Ruby. As the others searched for Penny, Jaune too had plenty of reasons to find the young girl. He wasn't doing this just for Ruby, or a sense of responsibility for Pyrrha's actions... he owes this much for Penny herself. Aside from being an innocent person caught up in everything, she was also there for him not too long ago when he was sleeping outside of the house.
It takes a while of scouting the city, really. Jaune had to ask anybody who might have interacted with her, then followed a bunch of clues through the network, until he finally spots Penny alone at a playground (for maximum depression lol).
He approaches quietly, kind of relieved, but knowing that this thing is far from over. PENNY :'( ]
It's getting a little late to be out here by yourself.
[ though it's ruby and pyrrha that penny is connected to most in this situation, she finds herself terrified to speak to anyone else from remnant. weiss, nora, jaune... if they knew that she had been killed, then that also meant that they knew what she was. what did they think of her? what was this going to change?
depression playgrounds are a great place to hide and think, especially at night and on a swing set. she isn't even actively swinging - it's just a nice place to dangle and ponder your own death.
she looks up with a startled expression when she sees jaune, wondering or not if she should run. her hand grips the chain link of the swing... but she decides to stay where she is. what would be the point of running now, anyway? ]
[ He bends down to one knee in front of her, not wanting to look particularly threatening after judging her reaction just now. The last thing he wants is for her to run away again. ]
Sometimes I lose track of time when I go off to think alone.
[ Lord knows how much he broods these days. ]
It's certainly been a day. ...Are you okay?
[ Ugh, he realizes what a stupid question that is in hindsight. Penny shouldn't be okay with any of this. ]
[Yang expected the whole thing between Pyrrha and Penny to be messy in some way. There was no way it couldn't be given the reality of it was...also messy. She'd stayed out of it for the most part though, simply upholding Ruby's not-so-little white lie and everybody's seemingly unanimous decision to let Pyrrha field this one when she was ready and just waited for the inevitable fallout.
She may not have considered herself very close to Penny but she was still a friend, and more importantly she was Ruby's friend. And while Yang usually tended to hang back and let things work themselves out, she still felt compelled to see how Penny was dealing with it.
With a certain corgi trotting happily along at her heels, she approaches the girl with a small smile.]
Hey Penny. I've gotta take Zwei out for some exercise. You wanna come with me? We can walk and talk for a bit.
[She phrases it as an offer but something about her tone suggests she's not going to take "no" for an answer.]
[ it was indeed messy, but it seems like things have at least blown over a little. though things are still a little tense here and there, penny is back to living in casa rwyjnpp without fuss... and a little less secret-keeping, now that she knows everyone knows her own secret.
she isn't as close to yang as she is with ruby, but can at least enjoy her company and an opportunity to get closer. ]
Hello, Yang! [ she looks between her and zwei, eyebrow raised. ] That sounds like a very good idea. Count me in!
[ she's been cooped up inside all day herself, so stretching out her joints could be nice. she'd appreciate zwei's company, too! ]
[Zwei gives an accompanying yap. He is eager to go outside!
Now, Yang knows that Zwei is a smart enough dog that he can probably take himself for a walk, but the exercise is more a pretense than anything.
That said though, she'll wait until they're a few blocks away from the shared house, heading vaguely in the direction of one of Verens's parks before she asks.]
[Soundwave's on a mission today. His destination: the Remnant House. He has a gift in one hand, and there's one person in mind he's planning to give it to. Although he doesn't celebrate this human holiday, it does give him an excuse to give his friend a gift.
Once arrived at the doorstep, he sets the small box down and knocks on the door a couple of times. When that's all done, he stands there for a couple of seconds, contemplating to wait, before he immediately turns around, transforms, and drives away.
The gift is wrapped in blue and white snowflakes wrapping gift, along with robots dressed in different Christmas-themed costumes! Attached on top of the box is a Christmas card, wishing a Merry Christmas on front, and inside is a short message that reads:]

[Yang made some small giftboxes for all her friends for Valentine's Day and she wanted to make sure she put one together for Penny. Only trouble is, she made chocolate chip cookies for most everyone else which...kinda won't work here.
So instead, she found a cute Valentine's Day-themed puzzle cube to give to her instead. There's a card that goes with it which reads, "It's not puzzle-ing what makes you great! Happy Valentine's Day."]

but the festival is over for the evening, and Penny is downright giddy. she's had an excellent day spending time with her friends, and if the colours blooming on the flowers making the crown on her head are any indicator, it's been filled with nothing but positive emotions. though she has nothing to do in the kitchen in particular, she's not just going to ignore a housemate. ]
[ As it happens, it's Nora's day to do the dishes but Pyrrha's bubbly gal pal is nowhere to be found, so Pyrrha is taking on the duty for herself. Nora, she reasons, is likely enjoying some alone time with Ren... This is the least she can do for them.

[ It's been about two weeks since Pyrrha had disappeared from the house, and Jaune hasn't been coming out of their newly decorated basement a lot. Visitors were welcome, of course, it's not as if he had locked himself up, but naturally he hasn't been the most social ever since Helisium.
