[Zwei gives an accompanying yap. He is eager to go outside!
Now, Yang knows that Zwei is a smart enough dog that he can probably take himself for a walk, but the exercise is more a pretense than anything.
That said though, she'll wait until they're a few blocks away from the shared house, heading vaguely in the direction of one of Verens's parks before she asks.]
[ look at you go, zwei! penny just has to smile at him, seeing as they share the same enthusiasm. it's just too bad that he can't voice it!
she follows right along with him and yang, walking briskly with her hands behind her back. ]
I've been pretty good! There are still lots of things in this city that I haven't seen yet, but I think I am finally starting to get into the swing of things.
[ notably, she doesn't mention what happened with pyrrha and ruby. ]
Well, they were, when you first got here. ...Sort of.
[You know, leaving aside the fact that the island wasn't floating anymore. And Pyrrha being away on an excursion. Plus their group's whole, "Omigawd, it's Penny" scramble that everybody did. ...Hmm.]
Nobody had weird memories they weren't supposed to have at least, you know?
[That kind of normal.
She pauses as Zwei scampers off to sniff at and then run small circles around a nearby tree as they enter a small park.]
I'm glad that's over at least.
[She's a little less sure about the other drama within their small group.
That was very weird. Ruby and Weiss were acting completely different! [ pause. ] Well, maybe Ruby was. But Weiss was saying confusing things, too.
[ penny's conversations with them didn't get very far, so she had tried to keep her distance. come to think of it now, she probably should have sought out yang... the two of them seemed to be the only ones in the house unaffected by all the shenanigans. ]
Do things like that happen very often?
Edited (guess who has two thumbs and forgot to pick an icon) 2017-10-29 00:49 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess. I mean, since the whole planet kinda feeds off emotions or something and the Arehtei do too...sorta. [She is incredibly unclear on how the Arehtei function.] It makes sense...
[Still sucks tho.
She shrugs and offers a small smile, bending down as Zwei comes scampering back to them, dragging a stick as long as he is.]
It's really different from back home but, I don't think I mind so much, you know?
[ her smile is initially bright, but starts to fade as her gaze casts downward. she knows very well why she likes it so much in verens, and why she isn't sure if she'd want to go home if given the chance. ]
Being here... it makes me very happy. I've made lots of friends, and I've gotten to know all of you a lot more.
[It's an expression Yang catches easily, her own features falling even as she lightly ruffles Zwei's fur before letting him go chasing off with the ridiculously over-sized stick in his mouth.]
Penny...
[Her tone is cautious as she straightens back up, brushing her hands off on her pants as an afterthought.]
I've been wanting to ask but... [But the question is kinda entirely personal. And possibly inappropriate. All the same, she pushes forward.] Was...is there any chance somebody could've...?
[She hesitates because the wording that jumps to mind is "fixed you" but she's well aware of how much that makes Penny sound like some kind of appliance. A thing.
Yang shakes her head and tries a different avenue.]
It's just...you're made of way tougher stuff than the rest of us. I guess I was just wondering if there was any way someone, maybe somebody in Atlas, could've helped you...?
[Unconsciously, her left hand reaches up to grasp at the sleeve near her right elbow.]
[ she offers an understanding smile to yang, as reassurance that she shouldn't feel bad about asking. it's nice that she has a friend that cares enough to ask that sort of question, even if it's a little sad to think about. ]
General Ironwood might have some resources... I can see that he helped you, after all. [ her hand gestures to yang's arm - it's likely the same sort of atlesian technology in penny's own body, if not very similar. ] But I don't think he would be able to help by himself this time.
[ it wasn't that penny didn't trust the general, but he was the leader of the military that penny was technically part of. he had influence and power, but he didn't quite have the know-how to reverse what had happened to her at the festival.
her gaze looks a bit distant, almost nostalgic as she seems to be recalling a memory. ]
My father is the one that made me. If there is anyone out there that could rebuild me, it would be him.
[A small smile crosses Yang's features. It's somber but somewhat hopeful too, as she nods her understanding. Her own father had mentioned that Ironwood put his top scientists to work on the arm she was eventually given. It's kinda nice to think that maybe one of those scientists was Penny's dad, even if it's probably unlikely.
She can't help but ask curiously though.]
What's your dad like?
[Penny obviously has so much love and goodness in her, Yang would kinda like to meet the guy someday.]
He's a very nice man - one of the nicest I've ever known. [ not that she's met too many men in her life so far, but he's definitely in her list. ] And he's smart, too... Though he can be over-protective of me sometimes.
[ that part is a little annoying, but what father isn't protective of his daughter? she has a fond look in her eye now, remembering him and his lab - her home. ]
[That description does remind Yang of her own dad a little. All the good dads in Remnant seem to have a protective streak but can anyone really blame them?]

[She did notice the lack of Pyrrha and Ruby mentioning. She'll swing back to that later though.]
I'm doing okay. It's nice to have everybody sorta back to normal, you know?
[None of them'll ever fit any true definition of "normal" but at least nobody's memories are completely messed up anymore.]
no subject
[ she pauses for a moment, her gaze casting down as she thinks of what to say next. ]
I didn't really know that things weren't normal with everybody when I arrived.
[ as far as she knew, everything was right as rain besides the whole "being in a different world" thing. ]

[It's said earnestly but with a sort of wry humor to it. Empatheias is a trip.]
Usually it's just emotions though. Things making you moody or clingy or really happy.
[Or accidentally triggering the hell out of you, but let's jump over that.]
Messing up people's memories was new though. I don't know if something like that's ever happened before but I really don't want it to happen again.
[That was not fun.]

[ but from how yang is speaking, it seems like it's a matter of time for someone living here. that's a little concerning. ]
But if they're looking to get us to be emotional, that sure sounds like a good way to do it.

He sounds...pretty great.

I hope I'll get to meet him someday.
